Technical / Poster Session
Materials are the building blocks of our society. Materials research and development contribute to today's energy technologies and the challenges we need to meet to fuel tomorrow's sustainable energy needs. Through history we have observed that economic development has historically coincided with increasing demand for materials, resulting in growing energy consumption, however not without related harmful emissions. Clean energy transitions must decouple these trends. Material efficiency strategies can contribute to harmful emissions reduction throughout value chains. With the above in mind, and celebrating the advent of novel materials and technology synthesis to abet energy transition, we have designed our symposium focusing on nanostructured and advanced materials offering new possibilities in conventional hydrocarbon exploration and production with a reduced carbon footprint while allowing opportunities to harness sustainable low-carbon energies, our path to net zero.
