Carbonate Play Characterization and Analysis Techniques

Carbonate plays account for about half of the world’s total oil and gas reserves. However, the economic potential of carbonate fields is often uncertain and challenging given the heterogeneity, variable wettability, and complex geometry. This session explores a wide spectrum of the the extremely heterogeneous carbonate reservoir characterization methods, and analysis techniques. The focus will be on reviewing the associated recovery, using machine learning technology for litho-facies classification, permeability prediction, seismic analysis, and integrating Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data to reduce the uncertainty in formation evaluation.
